Language learning is easily adapted to the web, to the computer, to the iPod or similar devices. A wide range of resources are available to download, to read, to watch and to listen to.
Many forms of media such as newspapers, magazines, television, and radio can now be accessed over the internet and very often for for free.
Students can now blend resources that can help develop all of the four basic language skills;
- listening,
- speaking
- reading
- writing
Practice speaking
We study a foreign language so we can talk with others. Yet, conversation is often a key missing ingredient in foreign language development.
Conversation is dynamic and unpredictable, requiring human interaction and cannot be replicated by media, software and textbooks. You might know what to say, but can you understand the response?
Don’t be shy! The best way to improve speaking a foreign language is to speak a foreign language.
Don’t expect to be perfect
When learning a foreign language, it is expected that we will make mistakes or not know certain words. Don’t worry about it! Such situations are learning opportunities in disguise. Embrace them and learn from them.
